AMD and Intel agree on disputes over licensing and use monopoly SUNNYVALE / SANTA CLARA, California. - November 12, 2009 - Intel Corporation and Advanced Micro Devices (NYSE: AMD) today announced a comprehensive agreement to end all legal disputes between the companies, including antitrust litigation and patent disputes. In a joint statement, both companies said: "While the relationship between the two companies has been difficult in the past, this deal ends legal disputes and enables both companies to focus all its efforts in innovation and product development . "Under the agreement, AMD and Intel obtain patent rights from a new licensing agreement for a term of 5 years, Intel and AMD will give up any claim of violation of a previous license agreements and Intel will pay AMD the sum of USD 1250 million. Intel also agreed to work under a variety of business practices. As a result, AMD will bypass the pending litigation, including the case in the District Court of Delaware, United States, and two cases pending in Japan. AMD will also withdraw all regulatory complaints made around the world. The agreement will be made public according to the classifications and Exchange Commission (SEC) of USA.
