AMD and Intel reach agreement in disputes over licensing and use monopoly SUNNYVALE / SANTA CLARA, California. - November 12, 2009 - Intel Corporation and Advanced Micro Devices (NYSE: AMD) today announced a comprehensive agreement to end all legal disputes between the companies, including antitrust litigation and patent disputes. In a joint statement, both companies said: "While the relationship between the two companies has been difficult in the past, this agreement ends legal disputes and enables both companies to focus all their efforts in innovation and product development . Under the terms of the agreement, AMD and Intel obtain patent rights from a new licensing agreement for a term of five years, Intel and AMD will put aside any claim of violation of previous licensing agreements and Intel will pay AMD the amount of USD 1.25 billion. Intel also agreed to work under certain business practices. As a result, AMD will bypass the pending litigation, including the case in the District Court of Delaware, United States, and two pending cases in Japan. AMD will also withdraw all claims regulatory conducted around the world. The agreement will be made public according to classifications and Exchange Commission (SEC) of the United States.
