Intel ® Offers a Preview of Intel Xeon ® 'Nehalem-EX'

by Your PC Easy on may.31, 2009, under Intel , Venezuela

Intel Corporation on Tuesday offered a preview of a new processor Intel ® Xeon ® , code-named "Nehalem-EX". The processor is in the heart of the next generation Intel server platforms high level, intelligent and expandable, which offer a variety of new technical developments and improve the computing performance of the company.

Nehalem-EX processor will start manufactured towards the end of this year. Include up to eight cores inside a single chip that supports up to 16 threads and 24 MB of cache. Its performance increase will be enormous and will mean the biggest jump of all time with respect to any previous generation processor .*

Nehalem-EX will add new capabilities for reliability, availability and serviceability (RAS, an acronym in English), traditionally found in the family of Intel ® Itanium company, such as recovery Machine Check Architecture (MCA). In addition to new levels of performance, these high-level processors deveria accelerate the move away from systems based on RISC processors, more expensive and owners.

Ideal for server consolidation, virtualized applications, enterprise applications with high demand for data and technical computing environments, Nehalem-EX will offer up to nine times the bandwidth of memory * compared to the previous generation, the platform Intel Xeon 7400 . Nehalem-EX will also double the memory capacity with up to 16 memory slots per processor socket, and offer four QuickPath Interconnect connections to high speed broadband. Nehalem-EX will provide a tremendous scale, from systems with two sockets and a large memory capacity up to eight-socket systems capable of processing 128 threads simultaneously without the need for third-party chip "pieces" of the platform. There will be additional options for scalability, through third-party solutions, which include larger numbers of sockets.

Intel offers the most comprehensive portfolio of servers: the Xeon 5500 series delivers performance, power efficiency and flexibility for leading infrastructure applications. The Nehalem-EX + + greatly increase the scalable performance, flexibility and advanced RAS capabilities of Intel Xeon 7400 for business applications that demand a large amount of data and also for server consolidation. Itanium offers increased scalability and advanced RAS capabilities for challenging environments.

Benefits of the Nehalem-EX

  • Intel Nehalem architecture built on the extraordinary process of metal gate technology for 45nm high-k Intel
  • Up to eight cores per processor
  • Up to 16 threads per processor with Intel ® Hyper-threading
  • Scalability up to eight sockets through Quick Path Interconnects and even more with third-party node controllers
  • QuickPath Architecture with four bonds of broadband high-speed
  • 24MB of shared cache
  • Integrated memory controllers
  • Technology Intel Turbo Boost
  • Intel Scalable Memory Buffer and scalable memory interconnects
  • Up to nine times the bandwidth compared to previous generation
  • Support for up to 16 memory slots per processor socket
  • Advanced RAS capabilities including MCA recovery
  • 2,300 million transistors

RISC to Reward: For customers migrating to platforms based on Xeon and Itanium

With the new capabilities for businesses RAS high level Nehalem-EX can accelerate the adoption of Information Technology (IT) Intel-based platforms, over RISC-based platforms, offering a total cost of ownership lower, higher performance, power consumption low and the ability to standardize on a flexible IT environment. The Intel Itanium processor provides mainframe-class reliability for workloads mission critical and allows for greater scalability, especially for workloads with many threads. Itanium offers system configurations over eight sockets and is ideal for applications that access the memory banks with greater capacity.

Availability

The Nehalem-EX production is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2009.

by Your PC Easy on nov.10, 2008, under Intel

Intel ® Health Guide is the first product in a series designed to allow management more personalized care for chronic health conditions and age-related

Intel Corporation today announced the launch of the Intel ® Health Guide, a care management tool designed for health professionals who care for chronically ill patients. The Health Guide represents Intel's entry into a new category of personal health systems that go beyond simple patient monitoring systems available today at a distance.

The Intel ® Health Guide, which was authorized to market 510 (k) of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of United States in July, is a comprehensive personal health system that combines a home device for the patient, the Intel PHS6000 ® Health Guide, with an online interface-the Intel ® Health Care Management Suite, which allows health workers to track patients who are treated at home, and manage care remotely.

"The Health Guide is a step forward in offering a more personalized and effective management of chronic health conditions in the home," said Louis Burns, vice president and general manager of Intel's Digital Health Group. "Intel has spent years researching the needs of both caregivers and patients, and now we are developing a series of products that will help extend care from hospital to home. Our products help meet the challenges of an aging population and rising rates of chronic diseases. "

Intel is working with leaders in the healthcare industry around the world to validate the clinical benefits of the Health Guide in a wide range of chronic conditions and applications to welfare and health. Pilot studies are planned in the United States in collaboration with health organizations such as Aetna, Erickson Retirement Communities, Providence Medical Group in Oregon and SCAN Health Plan. The goals and objectives are to advise on how the Health Guide integrates with different care management models of health in the home. These first studies focus on the ability to demonstrate improvements in outcomes of treatments for diseases such as heart failure, diabetes, hypertension and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Customers have profiles such as Advanced Warning Systems, Inc. (AWS), a provider of products for the healthcare and services based on the Web, which keeps track of people with acute cardiovascular symptoms that can cause sudden death . AWS will use the Intel Health Guide to connect to a class of intended users, including retired athletes and veterans suffering from posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), with the highest incidence of cardiovascular-type diseases.

The Health Guide promotes greater patient engagement and more efficient, enabling communication between patients and health professionals and enabling medical personnel to have access to more actionable data and present. This solution offers interactive tools for personalized health care and includes vital sign collection, patient reminders, statistics, multimedia educational content and feedback and communications tools such as video conferencing and alerts. Medical personnel have continuous access to data, so you can better manage each patient's condition while recovering themselves benefit from customized care in the comfort of your own living room.

Intel is working with leading organizations in health services that have an understanding of the processes of care; with them, extraordinary develop patient care plans, as well as multimedia educational content for chronic conditions. Specifically, Intel is negotiating with the Mayo Clinic to buy the rights to use educational content from MayoClinic.com, putting them available to customers using the Health Guide. In addition, Intel is working with the American Heart Association to create care plans based on treatment guidelines of the organization, in a pilot project for the ongoing management of patients with heart failure. The intention is to help health professionals to track patients and remotely manage their care in accordance with scientific guidelines, as well as provide patients quick access to educational materials targeted and credible. Intel has also hired a team of medical experts to provide a range of professional services to enable healthcare organizations to successfully integrate its health system staff in their current programs and disease management in their models of care.

In addition, Intel plans to use the key components of this technology to build products targeted at new areas, such as independent living and programs for the management of health and welfare, and to create new devices such as mobile phones and portable devices.

American Medical Alert Corporation (AMAC), a national provider of patient monitoring devices, will be the first channel in the U.S. market for the Intel Health Guide. By adding the Intel Health Guide to its portfolio of offerings, AMAC will be more equipped to offer its customers the best in technology management of care. The Health Guide is designed for use by health professionals to manage the care of their patients remotely. Currently, ordinary consumers can not purchase this product.
